PC Monitor "review": My Samsung SyncMaster 793s

In a world of Plasmas, LCDs, “extreme slims” and even what a friend informed me is a “TV-cum-computer” in the market now, my bulky, trusty, old, battle-wearied Samsung SyncMaster 793s remains my best, unfailing and irascibly reliable friend. No I’m not a techie but I have used other snazzy monitors but my SyncMaster -Black 17" is the one and the only workhorse I return to every hour after sashaying with the latest beauties. The latest monitors are well, quite high on the ‘fi’ department but what is more valuable than what you already have and value? I’m a sentimental fool – but a practical one!     Let me tell you about her. Comparing with the recent models, my Samsung SyncMaster 793s is a 17-inch CRT monitor must seem like an old coot time forgot to take along. But trust me, she doesn’t even care – she is more worried that her service might fail me!  If there is anything out there to compare with her, maybe they’d be much better, or even the best, I say. But there is a big diff

Apple MacBook Pro 2012: Retina Display, Big-specs, affordable and top-notch product

I love Apple’s new MacBook Pro, 2012, for some of the specs it offers particularly the totally awesome PPI – the Retina Display is probably the biggest we have come across so far – not mentioning what the previous MacBook Pros offered.   The PPI specs: The new MacBook Pro display measures 15.4 inches across and well – hold your breath – a 2,880x1, 800-pixel resolution with 220 pixels per inch. That’s awesomeness of 5,184,000 pixels! Apple has launched its all new 15.4 inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display at a starting price of US $ 2,755 (UK price: GBP 1,753 and India Price: Rs.1, 52, 900). If you go through the features the new MacBook offers I think the price is okay although for India and US, it asks a bit hefty more considering the 14-inch MacBook. The new Pro uses IPS technology. The DVD drive is no more there – which explains the slim 0.7 inches and barely 2 kg weight.   Here are some of the specs:  The 15-inch MacBook Pro 2.3GHz or 2.5 GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 proces

Samsung Galaxy S3 Sprint, T-Mobile release date confirmed

Specs preview and overview The Samsung Galaxy S3 (or Galaxy S III) will be available on US carriers Sprint and T-Mobile from June 21 st , 2012 it has been announced. Samsung’s latest Smartphone the android Samsung Galaxy S3 is probably on way to becoming the top phone to hit the 2012 market. Samsung announced the sale of the Galaxy S3 in 28 other countries, including Canada starting from June 20 th . And sales index have pitched for the latest of the Samsung Galaxy series.  I think the whole rush is justified. The specs that Samsung assured in the S3 are probably a huge jump from the earlier flagship models of the brand – for instance the Galaxy and Wave series. The quantum leap is easy to notice –the Samsung S3 has a 4.8-inch (1280×720 pixels) HD Super AMOLED display; the set is powered by Snapdragon S4 Dual Core 1.5 GHz instead of Exynos 4 Quad. The model has two versions, namely the SGH-i747 with LTE support and SGH-iT999 with HSPA+ 42 support. There are also features shared

How to recharge your phone using a Twit?

This post is simply a section I made from my post Now just twit and recharge you phone, you twits for those looking for info on how to recharge their mobile phones (Tata Docomo subscribers) using a Twit.    GSM pre-paid customers can recharge and activate a value-added service/application through Twitter just by using hash-tags.  To register (only for subscribers of the service), go to @tatadocomo , type in #reg <Mobile Number> . Next you will receive a Personal Identification Number (PIN) code, for verification, through an SMS text.  Once the verification code is verified, go to the Twitter handle again, and type in #code <Pincode>   After typing in the code, you will receive a tweet confirming your registration. To activate value-added services, there is a slightly different process:  Go to the handle (@tatadocomo) and type in #act# <Service><value> . You will receive a 'tweet-back' confirming activation of the service. Simple isn't
