iPhone 5: Specs and features of Apple’s new iPhone

The tech world is still all a-shake by tremors from rumors about what is understood to be the ‘iPhone 5,’ Apple’s possible latest mobile phone to be succeeding the incredible iPhone 4. Everyone is talking about the iPhone 5 and purportedly ‘leaked’ photos of the possible iPhone are all over the web. That’s the problem with rumors – heard but not seen.

The possible iPhone 5

Ever since the rumors picked up momentum the past few months I have been rummaging through major “tech gossip sites” and asking around tech blog forums for details (being a Journalist helps!). For all I can perceive, there is a truth: the rumored iPhone is well, definitely in design production and well, there are some details – such as iPhone 5’s possible specification and features – that are very consistent with what a number of “credible” tech people and websites are saying.

Judging from the consistency of what the tech buzzards are buzzing about, and of course the probability of features/specifications the iPhone 5 might come with (rationale basing on the iPhone4), here are some of its possible specs:
(Like I just stated, they are the “specifications’ consistently being touted by the “credible” tech ‘authorities’ on the web)

Design:

The iPhone 5 won’t be as ‘rounded’ as the iPhone 4 but a full square screen design with a back that is ‘bowl-ized’ and thins out at the edges of the device (read the current iPad’s back). Or at least the sharper edges of the iPhone4 won’t be there in any case. Let me quote an unidentified analyst at investment bank Piper Jaffray, who reported very recently via AppleInsider that Apple will go ahead and unveil the new device with a "completely redesigned body style."
This claim is very consistent with its possible design in photos which mobilenapps.com says were “leaked.” See pictures here.

Screen:

Well everyone is asserting that the iPhone 5 will be a “5 inch” display (which is totally incomprehensible by any stretch of imagination!). The speculation may be attributed to the name of the phone itself which has a ‘5’ – gadgets normally have certain conspicuous designs incorporated in the name. Therefore, I suspect, the reasons behind the “5-inch” rumor are also being fuelled largely by the suggestive ‘5’ in ‘iPhone 5.’

Anyhow, the more seasoned tech-watchers all agree that the iPhone 5 might come with a full display 4-inch screen – the winds say that the iPhone 5 would be definitely bigger than the current iPhone 4. That means it would most probably be a 4inch full display screen.

So how do you know it won’t be a 5-inch? Well, I’ll answer that with another question: Do you know what technological juice and steak would go into a phone that is 5-inch display screen if you were to design a phone everyone can own just so that your company won’t have to shut down?

Connectivity and other possible Specs

Wall Street Journal has claimed that the new iPhone would come with 4G LTE connectivity and of course bigger memory, camera and processor that that of iPhone4’s. The other claims by “sources” are:

An updated iOS 6

Extra 176 pixels longer (display)

A new, redesigned dock connector the size of something between a Micro-USB and Mini-USB connector
Retina display,
A5X Variant chip,
1GB RAM,
Near Field Communication (NFC) technology,
Improved Siri,
A liquidmetal casing,
8 megapixel rear camera,
a 2 megapixel front-facing camera for video chatting
Improved battery life
All said, let's see how the iPhone 5 would look like and what packages it would hold for phone lovers. Meanwhile, let's enjoy the gossips!

Apple MacBook Pro 2012: Retina Display, Big-specs, affordable and top-notch product

I love Apple’s new MacBook Pro, 2012, for some of the specs it offers particularly the totally awesome PPI – the Retina Display is probably the biggest we have come across so far – not mentioning what the previous MacBook Pros offered.   The PPI specs: The new MacBook Pro display measures 15.4 inches across and well – hold your breath – a 2,880x1, 800-pixel resolution with 220 pixels per inch. That’s awesomeness of 5,184,000 pixels! Apple has launched its all new 15.4 inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display at a starting price of US $ 2,755 (UK price: GBP 1,753 and India Price: Rs.1, 52, 900). If you go through the features the new MacBook offers I think the price is okay although for India and US, it asks a bit hefty more considering the 14-inch MacBook. The new Pro uses IPS technology. The DVD drive is no more there – which explains the slim 0.7 inches and barely 2 kg weight.   Here are some of the specs:  The 15-inch MacBook Pro 2.3GHz or 2.5 GHz quad-core I...

PC Monitor "review": My Samsung SyncMaster 793s

In a world of Plasmas, LCDs, “extreme slims” and even what a friend informed me is a “TV-cum-computer” in the market now, my bulky, trusty, old, battle-wearied Samsung SyncMaster 793s remains my best, unfailing and irascibly reliable friend. No I’m not a techie but I have used other snazzy monitors but my SyncMaster -Black 17" is the one and the only workhorse I return to every hour after sashaying with the latest beauties. The latest monitors are well, quite high on the ‘fi’ department but what is more valuable than what you already have and value? I’m a sentimental fool – but a practical one!     Let me tell you about her. Comparing with the recent models, my Samsung SyncMaster 793s is a 17-inch CRT monitor must seem like an old coot time forgot to take along. But trust me, she doesn’t even care – she is more worried that her service might fail me!  If there is anything out there to compare with her, maybe they’d be much better, or even the best, I say. But there...
